چکیده

Recent results from experiments like PAMELA have pointed to excesses of e± in cosmic rays. If interpreted in terms of Dark Matter annihilations, they imply the existence of an abundant population of e± in the galactic halo at large. We consider the high energy gamma ray fluxes produced by Inverse Compton scattering of interstellar photons on such e±, and compare them with the available data from EGRET and some preliminary data from FERMI. We consider different observation regions of the sky and a range of DM masses, annihilation channels and DM profiles. We find that large portions of the parameter space are excluded, in particular for DM masses larger than 1 TeV, for leptonic annihilation channels and for benchmark Einasto or NFW profiles.

Dark Matter Interpretations of the e± Excesses after FERMI

The cosmic-ray excess observed by PAMELA in the positron fraction and by FERMI and HESS in e− + e can be interpreted in terms of DM annihilations or decays into leptonic final states. Final states into τ ’s or 4μ give the best fit to the excess. However, in the annihilation scenario, they are incompatible with photon and neutrino constraints, unless DM has a quasi-constant density profile. Fina...

Extragalactic Inverse Compton Light from Dark Matter Annihilation and the Pamela Positron Excess

We calculate the extragalactic diffuse emission originating from the upscattering of cosmic microwave photons by energetic electrons and positrons produced in particle dark matter annihilation events at all redshifts and in all halos. We outline the observational constraints on this emission and we study its dependence on both the particle dark matter model (including the particle mass and its ...

Constraining Decaying Dark Matter with Fermi LAT Gamma-rays

High energy electrons and positrons from decaying dark matter can produce a significant flux of gamma rays by inverse Compton off low energy photons in the interstellar radiation field. This possibility is inevitably related with the dark matter interpretation of the observed PAMELA and FERMI excesses. The aim of this paper is providing a simple and universal method to constraint dark matter mo...

Diffuse inverse Compton and synchrotron emission from dark matter annihilations in galactic satellites

Annihilating dark matter particles produce roughly as much power in electrons and positrons as in gamma ray photons. The charged particles lose essentially all of their energy to inverse Compton and synchrotron processes in the galactic environment. We discuss the diffuse signature of dark matter annihilations in satellites of the Milky Way (which may be optically dark with few or no stars), pr...

Detecting Gamma-Ray Anisotropies from Decaying Dark Matter: Prospects for Fermi LAT

Decaying dark matter particles could be indirectly detected as an excess over a simple power law in the energy spectrum of the diffuse extragalactic gamma-ray background. Furthermore, since the Earth is not located at the center of the Galactic dark matter halo, the exotic contribution from dark matter decay to the diffuse gamma-ray flux is expected to be anisotropic, offering a complementary m...
